Split Ticketing…. this is a legitimate way of reducing the cost of travel by train on the UK.
Today I needed to travel last minute from London to Bolton and have some flexibility on my return travel date.
The fare that most people would buy and is promoted for this kind of trip is £82.40 – but by splitting my journey at Stoke on Trent the price came down to £56.90. Splitting the journey does not mean that you have to get off the train at the split point, but the train has to stop there.
