Hotel Leopold Brussels – Friendly and Family Run
Brussels is the land of the “Corporate” be it EU, NATO or the many businesses in the city thus most hotels are “Corporate Beasts”. The Leopold is different, it is family run and this is reflected in the friendly service.
Its location near the EU buildings is a blessing in disguise in that at the weekends and holiday periods the hotel has some good deals.
I travelled to Brussels by Eurostar from the UK and it was very easy to get to the hotel on the Metro from Gare du Midi, nearest stop is Troon, 5 stops from Midi.
Check in was smooth and friendly and they welcomed me back, I had stayed in the hotel sometime ago (about 2 years!).
My room was on the 6th floor and there were 2 lifts to access the floor. First impression was that the room was hot BUT the strong aircon soon cooled it down.
Located in the roof of the building the room had a great view of the EU buildings and had some character with a couple of wooden beams. Overall impression of the room was functional with a place to do some work with free WIFI.
Tea and coffee facilities provided in the room as well as a small minibar.
The room was one of the recently refurbished ones and the quality was very good with a great shower in the bathroom. In house toiletries were good.

I slept very well with little noise, a comfortable mattress and controllable aircon that was quiet and cooling….
I chose to have dinner in the hotel which was of a decent quality, perhaps a little expensive. I did mention to the hotel about the price of food and they said they do have offers available that include dinner.

- Shrimp Croquettes
- Seafood Linguini
- Breakfast buffet

Would I stay here again, yes. Brussels is having some difficulties with current geopolitical issues but I felt quite safe staying at the Hotel Leopold as it is in a nice neighbourhood.
