Review: Hyatt Place Leeds (Great Station Hotel!)
Hyatt Place Leeds is a great, modern city hotel with a fantastic rooftop bar and restaurant, just a 5-minute walk from the railway station.
About Hyatt Place Leeds
On a recent trip to Leeds, I stayed for one night at Hyatt Place, which is just a few minutes away on foot from the railway station.
It’s a highly convenient hotel, both for those arriving late or departing early by train from the nearby railway station and for visiting the city centre of Leeds, which is also just a short walk away.
Hyatt Place Leeds is a new, modern hotel, and as soon as you walk into the lobby, you can see how bright and airy it feels.
When I arrived in the evening, two hotel employees were on duty at the reception area, and I was swiftly checked in.

Room
I was allocated a room on the 7th floor with a view over the suburbs, and I could see the Pennines in the distance.
Some rooms, as well as the hotel’s rooftop bar and restaurant, have views over the railway station.
Rooms at Hyatt Place Leeds are very comfortable, and I certainly had a good night’s sleep in my double bed. Twin and family rooms are also available at the hotel.
The room has tea and coffee facilities, with complimentary water in the fridge as well.
The desk in my room was excellent to work at, and the hotel’s complimentary (and fast) Wi-Fi also helped.
Something else I appreciated was that the air conditioning worked perfectly on this very hot day in England, both in my room, which had an individual air con unit, and in the public spaces of the hotel.

Bars and restaurants
Food and beverage outlets at the hotel include a small coffee bar on the ground floor, and next to it a small deli shop offering light snacks such as cookies and crisps.
Downstairs you will also find the Zoom breakfast restaurant, where a breakfast buffet is served each morning.
This was a rather standard breakfast buffet in terms of its selection, though certainly not bad.
It was a shame there were no cooked-to-order eggs, but scrambled and fried eggs were available.
There were also healthy options such as muesli, fruit salad, and Greek yoghurt, which I enjoyed.
Best of all the food and beverage outlets at Hyatt Place Leeds is Azotea, the hotel’s rooftop bar and restaurant.
This is a beautifully decorated space, and although I did not manage to eat here, the food I saw coming out of the kitchen looked extremely good, and there were many appealing dishes on the menu.
Even if you are not staying at the hotel, Azotea could be worth visiting for a meal or drink.

Conclusion
Hyatt Place Leeds gets an AndyB thumbs up, as it is a lovely new hotel with rooms and public facilities in tip-top condition, and with pleasant staff.
For a longer stay, the Hyatt House next door could also be worth considering, as it offers apartments.
