Talgo 230
The Talgo 230 is a lightweight, high-speed push-pull train capable of reaching speeds of up to 230 kilometres per hour (145 mph).
According to the Spanish manufacturer, the Talgo 230 is designed for operation across Europe and has initially been prepared for use in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Sweden, with full interoperability enabling seamless cross-border operations.
The same type of train has previously been ordered by the German national railway company Deutsche Bahn, where it will enter service as the ICE L, as well as by DSB, the Danish State Railways, which plans to use it for both domestic intercity and international services.
The new units will be delivered to FlixTrain without locomotives, as these will be supplied separately by Siemens.
Talgo president Carlos Palacio said: “Talgo is keen to entering into a partnership with a transport giant like Flix.
“Talgo 230 is the best solution to improve passenger mobility across Europe in the intercity rail passenger market and we are delighted that our company is contributing with this new product iteration to the common goal of shifting traffic from the road and air modes and to a fair and rapid energy transition.”

FlixTrain plans to greatly expand its train services both within Germany and internationally.
CEO and co-founder of Flix André Schwämmlein said: “We are pursuing a long-term strategy with FlixTrain and we will significantly expand our services in the coming years.”
In a press release, FlixTrain noted the “growing demand for fast and affordable rail travel”.
FlixTrain stated that the “high-speed rail market in Germany is expected to grow by 45% by 2030, compared to 2021 volume” and that “across Europe, the market potential is even greater”.
According to FlixTrain, the new Talgo trains will feature barrier-free boarding as well as passenger information systems, air conditioning, state-of-the-art Wi-Fi, and other amenities designed to enhance passenger comfort.
Among the new routes promised by the company is a FlixTrain service from Berlin to Warsaw.
