Czech Railways Launches Cheap Summer Rail Pass
České dráhy – the Czech Railways – has launched a cheap summer rail pass giving passengers unlimited train travel across the Czech Republic.

Called the Ticket for Summer (Jízdenka na léto), the summer rail pass of the Czech Railways gives you one or two weeks of unlimited travel across the country on České dráhy trains.
The affordably priced rail pass is a great option for anyone planning to visit the Czech Republic this summer or still looking for some train travel inspiration.
With the rail pass, you can visit great cities such as Prague, Brno, and Olomouc, explore the natural beauty of Bohemian Switzerland, go wine tasting in Moravia, try excellent Czech beers in Plzeň (Pilsen) and České Budějovice (Budweis), and discover countless other fantastic destinations across the country.

Ticket price
A 7-day Czech summer rail pass costs 1,390 CZK (£49.50, €57.24, $66.51), while a 14-day pass costs 1,990 CZK (£70.87, €81.95, $95.22).
Discounted rail passes are available for children aged between 6 and 18, students aged between 18 and 26, and seniors aged 65 and over.
These discounted rail passes cost 1,190 CZK (£42.38, €49.01, $56.94) for one week and 1,690 CZK (£60.18, €69.60, $80.86) for two weeks.
Please note that you need to present an official ISIC or ITIC student card, or a Czech student card, to be eligible for a student rail pass.
On 15 June, the rail passes go on sale through all official České dráhy sales channels, including the ČD website and station ticket offices.
Terms and conditions
The Czech summer rail pass can only be purchased for any one- or two-week period between 1 July and 31 August.
Please note that the rail pass is non-transferable and can only be used by the person whose name is printed on the ticket.
A valid ID card or passport must be shown together with the rail pass during ticket inspections.
Even with a rail pass, it is still necessary to purchase a reservation for trains where compulsory reservations apply.
The rail pass is valid for second-class travel only.
However, it is possible to purchase a one-off upgrade to first class by paying the difference between the second- and first-class fare.
