Mainz – Hyatt Regency
Pleasant stay on the banks of the Rhine … well sort of
The hotel is a short walk from Mainz Romanischer Theatre Railway Station – which is one stop from the main station.
The welcome at the Front Desk was very pleasant and the young guy who checked me clearly enjoyed his job and the hotel.
One disappointment was not having a Rhine view room which I would have expected as a Diamond Gold Passport member, although I did get a Rhine view from the Regency Club. The Club room itself is rather small and was fairly busy when I used it but not uncomfortably so but the hotel did not appear to be busy.
All the staff I encountered were extremely friendly.
The public areas are good and with the weather being sunny and warm the outside terrace on the bank of the Rhine was lovely, including for breakfast. Breakfast itself had a decent spread and including a chef preparing eggs.
I wanted to use the pool for some exercise but with it being a Saturday afternoon it was too busy but the receptionist at the spa offered to call my room once it became quiet which was a great touch – I did not take her up on the offer though.
The room was comfortable and quiet with good blackout curtains and sound proofed windows. The bathroom was well appointed and I can vouch that the bath was very relaxing….
Would I stay again – yes at the right price.
