A Video Guide Travelling Naples to Pompeii and Salerno
Travel from Naples to Pompeii and Sorrento can be somewhat confusing as the train line is operated by a private operator and not Trenitalia. The railway is a part of the Circumvesuviana Railway that operates local services to the East of Naples. The timetables for all trains in the Naples area can be found here: click for timetables
It is not possible to buy tickets in advance for travel on the Circumvesuviana so you need to buy at the Circumvesuviana ticket office, the video shows where! Don’t worry about not speaking Italian as this is a well-worn path for non-Italian speakers.
One word of advice is be very careful with your valuables in and around Naples Station and on the Circumvesuviana, both of which are notorious pick pocketing hotspots!
