Crowne Plaza London Docklands Review
Located in the Docklands area of London next to the Excel Exhibition Centre and just across the river from the O2 Arena the Crowne Plaza London Docklands offers great deals when there are no events taking place.
Access is quite easy using the DLR, to Royal Victoria (TfL Zone 3), and a 3 minute walk. For a more dramatic arrival you can take the Emirates Skyline from North Greenwich across the Thames to almost the doorstep of the hotel. The Skyline costs £3.50 if you use your Oyster or Pay As You Go card.
A friendly welcome and acknowledgment of my IHG Rewards Club Membership, which gave me a room upgrade. I had booked breakfast as they offered a discounted rate of £10 when booking online.
The room allocated was a Superior on the 3rd floor overlooking Victoria Dock with a view of the O2 and Skyline.
The extra large bed, a super king, was very comfortable and as I was alone superb from sprawling out – I woke in the middle of the night to find myself lying across the bed at a right angle and still fitting in nicely.
Tea and coffee are provided plus a bottle of sparkling water. There is a fridge but not stocked with anything. Next door to the hotel is a Tesco Metro grocery store.
The wifi worked well and there was a desk to do some work from.
The bathroom had a shower in the bathtub with reasonable pressure. Toiletries provided were Pecksniff’s, not a brand I have heard of. Additionally there were wall mounted Lux washes, shower gel and shampoo.
The room was quiet until flights started to depart from City Airport, the hotel is relatively close to the airport and in direct line of the runway. The first couple of flights woke me up but I was able to fall back to sleep.
The weak side to the hotel was breakfast which I found a little underwhelming. Nothing wrong with it but would have liked more fruit.
Would I stay here again? Yes if the price is below £90 including breakfast, I paid £86.40.
