Brussels to London by Eurostar High-Speed Train
The best way to travel between Brussels and London is by taking the Eurostar high-speed train through the Channel Tunnel.
With a travel time of just over two hours from Brussels to London, the Eurostar is much faster than flying from city centre to city centre.
In this short guide, I’ll show you what to expect when travelling by train on this route.

By Eurostar train from Brussels to London
The Eurostar journey from Brussels to London begins at the southern railway station of the Belgian capital, known as Brussels South in English, Brussel-Zuid in Dutch, and Bruxelles-Midi in French.
Unlike domestic Belgian trains or international services to the Netherlands, Germany, and France, you must check in for the Eurostar train to London, which must be completed at the dedicated Eurostar terminal at Brussels South.
The check-in procedure is quick, as it essentially involves having your ticket scanned to allow you to pass through the gates.
Do note that you must complete check-in at least 30 minutes before departure (15 to 20 minutes for Eurostar Premier passengers and Carte Blanche loyalty cardholders), although it is advisable to arrive at least one hour before departure.
The next step is airport-style security checks, although unlike flying within Europe, there are no limits on liquids you can carry in your luggage.
Next, you will also go through passport control at the station, which first involves Belgian (Schengen Area) exit procedures, followed by British immigration.
It is certainly convenient to complete British immigration at the station in Brussels, as it means you will arrive at London St Pancras station as a domestic passenger, with no further document checks.

On board the Eurostar train
I have travelled many times on the Eurostar to and from London.
This time, I was travelling in Eurostar Plus (previously known as Standard Premier), which is similar to first class on trains in the UK and continental Europe.
It included a meal and a drink, plus coffee or tea, served at your seat.

Buying tickets
You can book your Eurostar train ticket on the website of NS International, the Dutch Railways.
Use the search tool below to find the best connection for your travel date.
If you are using an Interrail or Eurail Pass for train travel across Europe, it is best to make passholder reservations for the Eurostar through Rail Europe.
Conclusion
With a travel time of just over two hours, the Eurostar high-speed train is by far the best option for getting from Brussels to London or vice versa, as it is even faster than travelling city centre to city centre by air.
Before you book your ticket and travel, make sure you are familiar with the check-in procedure and travel classes so that you are fully prepared for your journey.
