Beijing Railway Stations
There are now 6 Beijing Railway Stations which act as main rail hubs (becoming a little like “London Terminals”, or, grammatically more correct, London Termini), getting mileage to and from the Chinese capital on the rails will be both easier and more complex. Here’s where all stations stack up… in terms of directions of travel…
BEIJING 北京 (Main Station)
No “real” High Speed trains — if anything, maybe the occasional D train (slower HSR) to mostly northeastern China. (HSR trains to Northeastern China are now increasingly at Beijing Chaoyang station.)
Suburban Railway: Hub Tongzhou Line
Subway: Line 2, Beijing Railway Station
BEIJING NORTH/Bei 北京北
High Speed trains to Yanqing, Taizicheng, Zhangjiakou, Inner Mongolia, and Northern Shanxi. Slightly less trains here than at Qinghe.
Suburban Railway: Huairou-Miyun Line
Subway: Lines 2, 4, or 13, Xizhimen
QINGHE 清河
Same as Beijing North/Bei but with more frequent train services
Suburban Railway: Huairou-Miyun Line
Subway: Line 13, Qinghe Railway Station
BEIJING SOUTH/Nan 北京南
High Speed trains to Tianjin (InterCity), as well as the Beijing-Shanghai HSR route, and extensions out to Southeastern China and Qingdao
Subway: Lines 4 or 14, Beijing South Railway Station
BEIJING WEST/Xi 北京西
High Speed trains to Southern and Western China, as well as InterCity trains to Daxing Airport and Xiongan
Suburban Railway: Hub Tongzhou Line
Subway: Lines 7 or 9, Beijing West Railway Station
BEIJING CHAOYANG 北京朝阳
High Speed trains to Northeastern China
Suburban Railway: Northeastern Ring
Subway: Line 3 (being built)
The pace of change with China’s Railways is phenomenal and Beijing Railway Stations are examples of how the rail system is moving forward – particularly the new Beijing Chaoyang Railway Station!
