Better Food: Amtrak Upgrades Meals in Acela First Class
First class passengers on Acela high-speed trains in the US can look forward to better food on board, as Amtrak has upgraded its meal offerings.
Acela first class meals
US national railway company Amtrak has partnered with American restaurateur Stephen Starr to offer first class passengers on its Acela trains a selection of new signature dishes.
The new meals are inspired by signature dishes from iconic Starr restaurants located across the country.
One of the new meals is the Charred Bobo Chicken from Starr’s “Anselm” restaurant in Washington DC – a marinated, lightly charred chicken breast served with a spicy, creamy aji verde and roasted acorn squash.
From Starr’s Parc restaurant in Philadelphia, Amtrak has chosen the Ricotta Ravioli – handmade pasta pillows filled with creamy ricotta, served with a rich plum tomato sauce, fresh basil, and parmesan cheese.
Another new signature dish will be the Crab Enchiladas from Starr’s El Presidente restaurant in Washington DC – a Mexican dish of corn tortillas filled with crab meat, coconut, poblano peppers, and corn, glazed with a rich guajillo chili sauce and topped with tangy lime crema and a sprinkle of queso fresco.

Acela first class improvements
The improved food offering is the latest in a series of upgrades by Amtrak to the passenger experience on their Acela trains.
In recent months, Amtrak has introduced a hot towel service before meals and upgraded its meal service with new glassware and plates, linen tablecloths, and linen coasters for beverages, all featuring the distinctive Acela logo.
Of course, meal service on Acela trains is complimentary for first class passengers.
First class passengers on Acela trains also have access to station lounges in Boston, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington DC, enjoy priority boarding privileges, and earn 50% bonus points through the Amtrak Guest Rewards loyalty programme.
You can travel on Amtrak’s high-speed Acela trains along the Northeast Corridor, which links Washington DC, Philadelphia, New York City, and Boston.
