Trans Siberian Changes
July sees changes to the trains linking Moscow with Vladivostok – overall an increase in the number of trains linking the 2 cities.
Currently there are 2 trains:
1/2 named Rossia and branded as a Premium Train operating every 2 days
99/100 a slower train operating every 2 days
From July the 2 trains will be:
1/2 named Rossia BUT not a Premium Train operating daily using newer carriages
61/62 operating a faster service every 2 days but using older carriages
The loss of the Premium Train status means fares will be reduced. Ironically over the past year the carriages on the slower 99/100 have been far better than in 1/2 Rossia despite charging lower fares.
The majority of passengers on these trains are not travelling the whole length of the route.
Rossia from July 2020
The new daily train 1/2 named Rossia will take 6 days 22 hours 39 minutes for the whole journey – but as already said very few passengers are travelling all the way through.
The train will be formed of newer carriages and a shower will be available in each carriage. There is also a kitchen available with microwave and fridge as well as a drinks machine.
The train will have 4 berth kupe and platskartny open plan carriages – there will be no 2 berth compartments BUT you can create your own by buying all 4 berths in a kupe.
