Snälltåget to Launch Direct Malmö-Oslo Train
Snälltåget will launch a direct train between Malmö, Gothenburg and Oslo, improving rail connections in Scandinavia.
Direct Malmö-Oslo Train
Snälltåget, a Swedish private train operator, will launch its new Malmö-Gothenburg-Oslo service on 15 June 2026.
The service will depart once daily in each direction.
It will be operated by a classic locomotive-hauled train and will include Snälltåget’s dining car, Krogen, where passengers can sit down for drinks, snacks or a full meal.
The new train service is great news for rail travellers in Scandinavia, as until now a change of trains at Gothenburg has been required for those wanting to travel from southern Sweden to Oslo.

Schedule
According to the preliminary timetable filed by Snälltåget, the new train will depart at 06:38 from Malmö C, the city’s main station.
It will call at several stations along Sweden’s west coast, namely Lund, Helsingborg, Halmstad, Varberg and Gothenburg, stopping at Göteborg-Mölndal and Göteborg-Gamlestaden, as well as Trollhättan.
After crossing the border into Norway, it will stop at Sarpsborg and Fredrikstad before arriving at Oslo S, the main railway station in the Norwegian capital, at 13:16.
The return journey departs Oslo at 14.48 and arrives back in Malmö at 21:25.
The new Snälltåget service is also good news for passengers travelling to or from Copenhagen, as it is easy to catch a Copenhagen-Malmö train connecting with Snälltåget’s Malmö-Oslo service, or a Malmö-Copenhagen train when travelling in the opposite direction from Norway to Denmark.
However, if you plan to travel from Copenhagen to Oslo using this new service, it does require an early start from the Danish capital if you want to reach Malmö in time for the 06:38 departure.
