RESOURCE
With the world still being in travel turmoil the need for a reliable and up to date source of information is key to any thoughts of travel!
My go to resource is a Canadian website – “sherpa”
I’ve found their information to right up to date and easy to understand.
DiscoverByRail Advice
This is the advice I gave to a US based DiscoverByRail client recently for travel to Europe:
“Flexibility is the key word for 2021 at least – things are and will continue to be very dynamic> I would not commit to any travel arrangements that are not refundable or at least changeable to a later date.
This issue you have for European travels is that each country is applying differing rules and, in my opinion, will continue to do so – even the EU countries that are supposed to offer a unified approach BUT that is impossible as each country has different rates, vaccination rates and have different views on risk.
For 2022 I’d be looking at what winter 2021 brings in terms of further waves.
In summary I’d say travel is possible BUT:
1. Book refundable / amendable arrangements.
2. Use the opportunity to visit countries in more detail as opposed to fitting in many countries thus minimising risk of one of the countries changing their entry requirements thus disrupting the rest of the trip.
3. Russia would be a good one to visit as lots to see and perfect for great rail trips, and obviously one country so less risk of border changes.”
