How to Travel From Bangkok to Hua Hin by Train
The train is the best way to travel from Bangkok to the beautiful Thai seaside town of Hua Hin.
In this short guide, I’ll show you what travelling by train in Thailand is really like, explain how to book your tickets, and share some insider tips.
Trains from Bangkok to Hua Hin
There are multiple daily train departures from Bangkok to Hua Hin.
The fastest services complete the journey in around 3 hours, while slower trains take about 4 hours.
Special Express trains are the fastest, making the fewest stops en route.
They are followed by Express and Rapid trains.
Depending on the service you choose, trains offer 2nd class air-conditioned seats or sleepers, as well as 2nd and 3rd class seats in coaches with fans and opening windows.
Trains to Hua Hin depart from Bangkok’s main railway station, Krung Thep Aphiwat Central (KTW), which can easily be reached by metro.

This is especially advisable when travelling during busy Thai public holidays or the high season.
Remember that 2nd class tickets include a reserved seat and can therefore sell out, whereas 3rd class offers unreserved seating only and technically cannot sell out.

Hua Hin railway station
Hua Hin railway station is a short walk, taxi, or tuk-tuk ride from the beachfront and the main hotel area.
The elevated railway station is relatively new and has modern facilities.
However, be sure to visit the old ground-level station to admire its magnificent Thai-Victorian architecture.
