How to Travel to Benidorm by Train
Although many people choose to fly to Spain to start their holiday in Benidorm, it is also perfectly possible to reach this famous beach resort town by train.
Not only Benidorm can be reached easily by train, but nearby coastal towns such as Altea, Calpe, and Dénia are also accessible by rail.

How to get to Benidorm by train
If you want to travel to Benidorm by train from elsewhere in Spain – or even from the UK or elsewhere in Europe – you will first need to reach Alicante.
Alicante is well connected by high-speed and long-distance trains to cities across Spain, including Valencia, Barcelona, and Madrid.

From Alicante to Benidorm by tram
Once you have reached Alicante’s main railway station, known simply as “Alicante”, or “Alacant Terminal” in the local Valencian language (a form of Catalan), Benidorm is only a short distance away.
You can easily travel from Alicante to Benidorm by taking the air-conditioned tram, which is certainly a fun way to reach the Spanish costa!
The underground tram stop Luceros is just an easy 6-minute walk from the railway station down the main station road.

Tram tickets
The great thing about getting to Benidorm by train is that the local tram ride from Alicante to Benidorm is included in the price of most train tickets.
If you take a high-speed or long-distance train operated by Renfe or Iryo to Alicante, your ticket includes a perk called Combinados Cercanías.
This entitles you to a free journey on the tram in the 4 hours after arriving in Alicante or in the 3 hours before your train’s departure from Alicante.
You can either use the QR code on your train ticket to pass through the ticket gates or enter the code at the machines to get a free tram ticket.
If you do not arrive in Alicante on a long-distance or high-speed Renfe or Iryo train, you will need to buy a full-fare tram ticket to Benidorm at the machines at Luceros station.
Make sure to keep your ticket, as you will need it to exit the station upon arrival.
Onward travel
At the tram station in Benidorm, you can transfer to another tram that will take you to the Intermodal Station, located next to Benidorm’s bus station.
You can also catch a tram that continues along the coast from Benidorm to Altea, Calpe, and Dénia.
