Review: Hyatt Place Gothenburg Central
The Hyatt Place Gothenburg Central, a railway station hotel in Göteborg, Sweden, is an excellent choice for train travellers.
As the hotel is fully integrated into the station complex, it is hard to beat its convenience for late arrivals or early-morning departures.
The location is ideal for catching early-morning departures from Gothenburg. You can have breakfast, then make a short and leisurely walk down to the platforms to board your train.
This is particularly convenient for services such as the morning train to Oslo, southbound trains to Malmö and Copenhagen, or the frequent departures to Stockholm.
Check-in
The hotel reception is located on the first floor, alongside the hotel bar and restaurant.
The reception staff were excellent, friendly, and genuinely hospitable, making both check-in and check-out a pleasant experience.
On both occasions, I had a pleasant chat with the reception staff.
Somewhat unusually, reaching the rooms from reception involves crossing a sort of atrium bridge above the station’s main hall, which gives the property a distinctive and slightly quirky character.

Room
I paid £95 for my room, a rate that included breakfast.
Some rooms offer partial views over the station platforms, which will appeal to rail enthusiasts in particular.
I would say that the Hyatt Place Gothenburg Central is a standard international four-star hotel, with air-conditioned rooms that are clean, comfortable, and well maintained.
The overall design has a clear Scandinavian feel, both in the rooms and in the communal areas.
The bathroom is well appointed and stocked with good-quality toiletries from the hotel’s own brand.

Food and drinks
On this visit, I did not dine in the restaurant, although I have heard positive feedback from others who have stayed here previously.
Based on the quality of breakfast, it is reasonable to expect that lunch and dinner are of a good standard as well.
Breakfast was very good, offering a typical Scandinavian spread. At weekends, the breakfast room can become busy, so arriving earlier helps to avoid the crowds.
If you prefer not to eat in the hotel, or simply need a quick snack or drink, the railway station below offers a wide range of shops, food outlets, and small supermarkets

Conclusion
Overall, the Hyatt Place Gothenburg Central earns an AndyB thumbs up for its convenience and value for money for a Scandinavian city.
